Gerhard Ritter

“Since August 2003 I have changed my artistic emphasis from sculpture to focus almost exclusively on realist portrait work.

I began by teaching myself to paint in oil. In the nine years since then I have exhausted the subject matter available in my family and for me portraiture has become not just a pursuit – but a passion.

In recent years I have risen to the challenge of watercolour portraits.                  My increasing interest in watercolour led me to establish the South Australian Watercolour Society in 2012.  In the short time since its inauguration our Society has reached a paid up membership of more than 70 with a continuing stream of interest.”
